Navy organizes number of tree planting programmes for new year tree planting rituals
In concurrent with the new year tree planting rituals, navy conducted number of tree planting programmes in Naval bases and establishments, yesterday(15th April).
According to a noble concept of HE the President Maithreepala Sirisena , a ritual of tree planting had included into the traditional new year rituals, this year. Accordingly, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva planted a sapling at the Naval establishment Digampathana yesterday and inaugurated the tree planting programmes in the Navy. Every Naval personnel attached to the all naval commands contributed in the programme planting a sapling.
Sri Lanka Navy which holds the commitment and concern in protecting. the environment and the forest lands, has launched many reforestation programmes in the Naval base premises, during the last year. Further, Sri Lanka Navy has scheduled several tree planting programmes ahead in view of empowering the " Neela Haritha Sangramaya" concept of HE the President.
