Navy-organized drug abuse prevention programme held in Eravurpaththu
Sri Lanka Navy has been tasked to undertake drug abuse prevention programmes which are operated under ‘Rata Wenuwen Ekata Sitimu’ – the national programme set in motion by His Excellency the President. Going by this drive, Sri Lanka Navy has been conducting drug abuse prevention programmes in Divisional Secretariats island-wide to educate the children and general public.
Accordingly, a similar programme was held at the Eravurpaththu Divisional Secretariat in Batticaloa yesterday (09th April). The event was attended by a large number of school children and people from the villages of Myllambaveli, Kithull, Mavadivembu 01, Sithandy 03,04, Erauvr Pattu Chenkalady, Iyankerny, Kaluwankerny and Karadiyanaaru.
These awareness programmes are being conducted by a dedicated team of naval officers, counseling officers and naval personnel who are trained as well as well-versed on the given subject. These programmes were also well supported by state and private sector organizations in respective regions. Meanwhile, the attendees were able to get thorough understanding about the harmful impacts of drug addiction, during this series of awareness programmes.
