Navy nabs two persons engaged in fishing with banned nets

A group of Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command, apprehended two persons who engaged in illegal fishing with banned nets, during a patrol carried out in Wella sea area in Kalpitiya, yesterday (08^thApril).

These two suspects are residents of Kalpitiya area, aged 39 and 37. A Dinghy, an Out Board Motor (OBM), 150m long banned net, other fishing gears and 37 kg of fish catch were also taken into naval custody and subsequently, they were handed over to Fisheries Inspector-Puttalam for onward legal action.
