Four Navy sailors successfully complete Aero Engine Basic Course
For the first time in SL Navy, four (04) sailors in the engineering branch followed the Aero Engine Basic Course conducted by Sri Lanka Air Force, which is accepted as a main course of Aero engineering field. This course was conducted at the Trade Training School of SL Air Force in Ekala and a prize awarding was also held at the termination of the course.
Therein, out of 11 participants of Air Force and Navy, first and third places were secured by the sailors. Accordingly, Engine Room Artificer IV OPTL Openayake became the first while the third position was secured by Engine Room Artificer III SPMD Kumara.
Moreover, these qualified sailors will be attached to the Gas Turbine ships which are scheduled to be bought for the Navy in future and to the proposed Naval Air Wing, as per the directives of Director General Engineering. The achievements of the sailors in a course of this nature for the first time, bring glory to the entire Navy.
