Navy assists to extinguish fire at Bloemendhal garbage dump

A team of naval firefighters assisted to extinguish a fire broke out at the Bloemendhal garbage dump, today (06th April). Upon receipt of information of the fire, Naval Headquarters promptly dispatched a firefighting team attached to the Western Naval Command to engage in dousing of flames.

The naval firefighting team included a fire engine, a water bowser and 9 naval personnel. Working shoulder to shoulder with the firefighters of the Army, Colombo Municipal Council and Colombo harbour, Navy firemen rendered their maximum support to extinguish the fire spreading at the garbage dump.
