SLNS ‘Sagara’ returns home on completion of a successful tour

SLNS ‘Sagara’ which left for Malaysia on 19th March to take part in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2019 in Malaysia, arrived home today (05th April) on successful completion of tour events. The ship was received by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval customs and traditions on arrival at the port of Trincomalee.

Deputy Area Commander ENA Commodore Upul De Silva and several senior officers were also present upon her arrival. Commanding Officer of the ship Captain Anil Bowatta had a cordial discussion with the Deputy Area Commander and they exchanged views on the progress of the training tour. A memento was also presented to the DAC by the Commanding Officer.

LIMA International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition was held from 26th to 30th March at Langkawi island in Malaysia and crew of SLNS “Sagara” took part in number of training exercises and multiple programmes there. Further, Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva who was on an official visit to Malaysia, paid an inspection visit onboard SLNS Sagara on 27th March.
