Navy nabs a person with heroin

A group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with Muttur Police, apprehended a person with 194mg of heroin, during a raid carried out at Thakwa Nagar in Pulmudai, today (01 April).

The suspect has been identified as a resident of Muttur area, aged 24. Muttur Police is conducting further investigation about the suspect and heroin.

Sri Lanka Navy is playing a pivotal role in eradicating the drug menace, while working in line with the national programme for prevention of drug abuse in Sri Lanka. Accordingly, the Navy has conducted a large number of raids in different areas of the island to arrest drug peddlers and seize a large haul of narcotics. Further, the Navy is fully committed to undertake drug bust in the future, in a bid to protect the future generation from this menace.
