Navy apprehends two persons for fishing with explosive
Two persons who engaged in illegal fishing by using explosive (Dynamite) were apprehended by a troop of Naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command during a patrol carried out at the seas off Norway island in Trincomalee, yesterday (26th March).
A dinghy used for fishing, an out board motor (OBM), 529 kg of fish catch were also taken into naval custody and they were handed over to the office of the Fisheries Inspector-Muttur for onward legal action. The suspects have been identified as 25 and 34 years old residents of Trincomlee area.
Further, on last 26th also, a person with 80 kg of fish caught by using explosive at Mohothtuwaram area in Trincomalee, was nabbed by Navy. Since, Navy’s frequent raids, illegal fishing attempts have been obstructed and Navy carries out continuous raids and patrols for thwarting such illegal activities.
