Navy contributes in the protection of beautiful coastal line

Naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command assisted to the beach cleaning campaign launched at Palliyawatta and Poruthota beach areas in Negombo, yesterday (27^th March). About 100 naval personnel participated in this campaign organized by Reckitt Benckiser (Dettol) Company under their “Clean Hands Clean Nation” programme.

Further, the cleaning campaign was assisted by large number of people including officials of the Marine Environment Protection Authority, Officials of Negombo Municipal Council and Samurdhi beneficiaries of the area. Therein, degradable and non degradable waste were collected separately and provided them to Negombo Municipal Council for recycling.

Since, Sri Lanka Navy is always concerned on maintaining clean beaches, the beach areas around naval bases and establishments are cleaned weekly.
