A preaching of sermon at Naval Headquarters on the sidelines of Tripitakabhivandana’ Week
As a meritorious concept of the President His Excellency, Maithripala Sirisena the Theravada Tripitaka was declared as a National Heritage of Sri Lanka and in parallel with the Tripitaka being recognized as a World Heritage, the Presidential Secretariat has announced the ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ Week from 16th to 23rd March.
During this week, a number of religious programmes are scheduled to be held at all naval establishments, ships and craft, under the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva and supervision of respective Area Commanders.
As part of the series of religious events, a ‘Dharma Deshana’ preached by Ven. Welimada Saddasela Thero of Mahameuna Monastery were held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake auditorium in Naval Headquarters, today (22nd March). Further, ‘Tripitakabhivandana’ oath for the Tripitaka being recognized as a World Heritage, was also read there.
Senior officers, junior officers of Naval Headquarters and a large number of sailors were also present on this occasion.
