Two suspects arrested with 91.561kg of Kerala cannabis
A group of naval personnel attached to the Northern Naval Command during a foot patrol in the beach area of Thikkam in Point Pedro arrested 02 suspects with 91.561kg of Kerala cannabis this morning (17th March). It is suspected that they have attempted to smuggle the consignment into the country through its maritime boundary.
The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Thikkam, aged 47 and 60. The Point Pedro Police is conducting further investigation into the incident. The Navy, during their continuous operations, has seized over 770kg of Kerala cannabis thus far in year 2019.
Going hand in hand with the concept of His Excellency the President, the Navy is too rendering noteworthy assistance to the government which is now on a war footing against drug abuse. Accordingly, the sea going arm is conducting patrols, search operations etc. at sea as well as on land in order to eradicate this menace with stringent action.
