Five (05) persons apprehended by Navy for illegal fishing

A group of Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command, apprehended five persons who engaged in illegal fishing without valid fishing passes and using banned nets, during a patrol carried out in Rodapadu area, yesterday (13^th March).

These suspects are in 24, 29, 30, 36 and 37 years of age and residents of Kalpitiya area. A dingy, an Out Board Motor (OBM), other fishing gears and 106 kg of fish catch were taken into naval custody and subsequently, they were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries-Puttalam for further investigation.
