27^th anniversary of SLNS Dakshina celebrated on grand note

The 27^th anniversary of SLNS Dakshina which fell on 09^th March this year was celebrated on grand note. To mark the anniversary celebrations, several religious events and Corporate Social Responsibility projects had been organized by the crew of SLNS Dakshina, under the guidance of its Commanding Officer, Captain (N) Nimal Ranasinghe.

Accordingly, the children’s homes of ‘Sambodhi’ in Galle and ‘Supem Uyana’ in Gonapinuwala were cleaned and their inmate children were provided lunch. Further, the Commanding Officer inspected divisions this morning (12^th March) and addressed the crew members praising the high standards set during divisions and urging them to lead their naval career in a dignified manner.

Subsequent to the inspection of divisions, the age old naval tradition of having meals- ‘Barakana’ was held and it was presided over by Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera flanked by a cross section of officers and sailors.
