Thirty (30) senior sailors receive interest free loans
Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans worth Rs. 500,000 each to another thirty (30) senior sailors during a simple ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva at the Naval Headquarters today (28th February). The financial allocation of Rs. 15 million utilized for the above purpose was provided by the Naval Benefit Foundation. The occasion was also attended by the Manager of Naval Benefit Foundation, Lieutenant Commander KM Dayananda.
This welfare initiative was mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, a total of 2142 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date. The Navy is making necessary arrangements to offer this financial support to yet another 3100 senior sailors in due course.
