Navy recovers stock of explosives used for illegal fishing
Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Mannar Police recovered a stock of explosives concealed in bushes during a search conducted in the general area of South Bar, Mannar yesterday (24th February). During the search, 1.1kg of gelignite (11 sticks), 03 non electric detonators and 03 safety fuses (03 inches each) were found and they were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward action.
In a similar vein, the Navy arrested a suspect with a cache of explosives in the same locality on 10th February. The naval personnel are ever alert to curb such illegal acts performed by a handful of people.
