Unauthorized fishing nets found in Batticaloa lagoon area

A Naval troop attached to the Eastern Naval Command, during routine patrol carried out in the Batticaloa lagoon area, found a large number of unauthorized fishing nets yesterday (21 February). Accordingly, 26 illegal fishing nets, each about 150 feet in length, were recovered and they were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Trincomalee for onward legal action.
