Navy apprehends five (05) Indian poachers in Sri Lankan waters
Five (05) Indian fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters and their trawler were apprehended by a Naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command in the seas North west of Arippu beacon, yesterday (21th February).
Accordingly, Indian fishers and their trawler were brought to SLNS Gajaba. After a basic medical test, they are due to be handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries in Mannar for onward legal action.
Further, as result of continuous Naval patrol in Sri Lankan waters, a group of 13 similar illegal Indian fishers were also apprehended by Sri Lanka Navy on 20 were apprehended by a Naval craft attached to the North Central Naval Command in the seas North west of Arippu beacon, yesterday (21th February.
