SLNS ‘Sayurala’ plays its part at recently concluded exercise AMAN-19

Sri Lanka Navy Ship (SLNS) ‘Sayurala’ left for Pakistan from the Colombo harbour on 02nd February to take part in the naval exercise AMAN 2019, the biennial exercise hosted by the Pakistan Navy.

The multilateral naval exercise AMAN 2019 was held in Karachi, Pakistan from 08th to 13th February, with the participation of 44 countries along with a large number of ships and air craft belonging to them. The purpose of the exercise was to promote cooperation and interoperability between the regional and extra regional navies. The concept of exercise was designed to provide common forum for information sharing, mutual understanding and identifying areas of common interests.

Further a number of naval exercises including response tactics, techniques and procedures against asymmetric and traditional threats at sea, search and rescue drills and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) programmes had been practiced as part of the exercise. The crew of SLNS ‘Sayurala’ keenly took part in all these exercises honing their skills further.

After the completion of the exercise on 14th February, SLNS ‘Sayurala’ has now reached the port of Abu Dhabi and she is expected to set sail on 22nd February to arrive in Sri Lanka by28th of this month.
