Navy apprehends 07 persons for engaging in illegal fishing

A group of naval personnel attached to the Northwestern Naval Command, during night patrol, arrested 07 persons for practicing the banned method of light-coarse fishing in Sinnapadu sea area last night (15^th February). The Navy also took into custody few illegally caught banned fish species, 04 dinghies and several other fishing gear belonging to them.

The arrested persons along with the seized items were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries, Puttalam for further legal action.
