Commander of the Navy visits North Central Naval Command
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva paid a visit at the North Central Naval Command on 10th and 11th February. The Navy Chief was warmly received by Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage, upon his arrival.
Initially, the Navy Commander inspected the divisions at the main parade ground in the Training Base SLNS Shiksha in Poonawa. Thereafter, the Commander of the Navy laid foundation stone for construction of a complete new galley for SLNS Shiksha and also laid foundation stone for construction of a Junior sailors’ mess at SLNS Pandukabhaya and subsequently, he addressed a cross section of officers and sailors attached to the North Central Naval Command. Then, Vice Admiral Silva inspected the storage facility for lifesaving equipment of the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Squadron (4Rs). Finally, he paid a visit to SLNS Pussadeva in Vankalai and planted a mango sapling there to memorize the visit.
On the following day, the Commander of the Navy planted a mango sapling at SLNS Thammanna in Thlaimannar and left for a tour in the 4th Sand Bank. Later on, he inspected the Naval sub units in Thalpadu and Oluthuduwai and finally observed the ongoing construction at SLNS Gajaba. The tour was concluded with the plantation of a coconut sapling at SLNS Gajaba.
These occasions were also attended by Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage, Heads of the Departments, senior officers, Commanding Officers and a large number of officers from the North Central Naval Command.
