Navy assists to bring a sick fisherman ashore for treatment
 

Sri Lanka Navy promptly reacted to bring a sick fisherman who was onboard multiday fishing trawler “ Wathsala” which had left Beruwala fisheries harbour on last 3rd January, ashore for medical treatment, today (01st February).

In response to information given by Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources about the patient, a Fast Attack Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command was promptly dispatched for rescue mission. Accordingly, the patient was taken safely onboard the FAC at the international seas 172 nautical miles off the Galle light house, yesterday night and then transferred him ashore under medical supervision. Thereafter, the patient was handed over to the owner of the trawler and then he was admitted for further treatment.

During the last year, large number of local as well as foreign persons who fell distressed due to accidents and sudden illnesses onboard ships and craft had been assisted by Sri Lanka Navy and further this kind of rescue missions will be conducted according to the timely requirement in future too.
