Navy nabs five persons engaged in illegal fishing
 

Five (05) persons who engaged in illegal fishing with banned nets were apprehended by a troop of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command, during a raid carried out at Backbay area, yesterday (20^th January). A dinghy, a banned net and 43kg of caught fish have also been taken into naval custody.

Accordingly, the apprehended persons, banned net, dinghy, caught fish and other fishing gears were handed over to Assistant Director of Fisheries-Trincomalee for onward legal action.
