JMSDF ‘Ikazuchi’ departs Hambantota after successful tour
 

Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force ship ‘Ikazuchi’ which arrived in Sri Lanka on 15^th January, after a successful three-day tour, set sail for her next port of call from the port of Hambantota today (17^th January). Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship in accordance with naval traditions.

During her 3 day official visit in the island, the ship’s crew visited some popular tourist destinations, participated in a cleaning campaign at the Hambantota beach and took part in several special events organized by the Sri Lanka Navy. Meanwhile, the children of Hambantota Primary School were welcomed aboard the ship and allowed them to have a look at its basic operation.
