Navy apprehends 11 fishermen for engaging in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to the Southern Naval Command with the assistance of Fisheries Inspectors apprehended 11 fishermen for engaging in illegal fishing, using unauthorized fishing nets, in the sea area 03 nautical miles off Ambalangoda this morning (11^th January).

Along with the fishermen 04 unauthorized fishing nets, a dinghy, a canoe and several other items were taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons, together with their belongings, were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Galle for onward action.
