One hundred senior sailors receive interest free loans
Sri Lanka Navy granted interest free loans worth Rs. 500,000 each to another one hundred (100) senior sailors during a simple ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the Naval Headquarters today (17th December). The financial allocation of Rs. 50 million utilized for the above purpose was provided by the Naval Benefit Foundation. The occasion was also attended by the Personal Secretary and Aide to the Commander of the Navy, Captain Aruna Tennekoon.
This welfare initiative was mooted to recognize the contributions of long serving senior sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy. Accordingly, a total of 2037 senior sailors have been granted interest free loans till date. The Navy is determined to offer this financial support to yet another 2951 senior sailors in due course.
