Navy Civil Engineering Branch provides labour for several housing projects
 

Under the directives provided by the Ministry of Defence, Sri Lanka Navy is planning to implement many housing projects for the benefit of Tri Forces personnel who are in active service and retired and also for the civil people. Civil Engineering Branch of SL Navy has already completed some of the projects and the beneficiaries are enjoying the facilities they have received.

Accordingly, Civil Engineering Branch of SL Navy has contributed with their labour in construction of 82 houses, making the recipients dream of a house, a true. 35 Tri Forces personnel in Ampara district under “Api Wenuven Api” housing project in 2017, 15 Tri Forces personnel of all island killed or disabled in humanitarian operation under “Api Wenuven Api” housing project in 2018,14 Naval personnel under “Viru Sumithuru”(Full built) housing project, 03 Naval personnel under “Viru Sumithuru”(Half built) housing project, 09 Naval personnel under “Ranaviru Real Star V” housing project, 03 Army personnel and 03 Naval personnel under Navy Welfare housing project have been facilitated up to date.

Further, Sri Lanka Navy undertook a part of construction of the houses for the civil people who lost their houses during the adverse weather condition affected to Aranayake and Ahaliyagoda areas and 25 houses completed by using the technology and the labour of Civil Engineering Branch of SL Navy, have been handed over the recipients. Accordingly, the input cost by SL Navy for these constructions during the period of October 2016 and August 2018 is Rs.148.94 millions. The number of half and full built houses are 107.

Uunder the supervision of Director General Civil Engineering Rear Admiral Susila Senadheera all officers and sailors attached to the branch have immensely contributed in these construction works. Several other projects are being launched by now and it is expected to provide the benefits of these ongoing projects for the Naval personnel and civil people as well in future.
