Disabled War Hero receives a complete new house
A new house built under the ‘Viru Sumithuru’ housing project launched by Ranaviru Seva Authority was handed over to the disabled Mess Assistant SS Dasanayake by State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardena, at Millaniya in Bandaragama, yesterday (20th Sep. 2018). The Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority Mrs. Anoma Fonseka also attended this occasion.
As another welfare project of Ranaviru Seva Authority for heroic security forces personnel, this house, equipped with all amenities, was constructed by the civil engineering personnel of the Sri Lanka Navy with a sum of Rs 1.2 million provided by David Pieris Group of Companies.
This naval war hero who was attached to SLNS Agbo on operational duties, was injured by a terrorist attack on 18th Sep. 1992. Subsequently, the disabled sailor was kept on retirement on medical grounds from 13th Feb. 2012.
Director General Naval Welfare, Commodore Sudath Lelwala, Director General Ranaviru Seva Authority Major General Napagoda, Deputy General Manager David Pieris Group of Companies Mr. Samantha Silva and several officers representing Tri Forces and Police were also present on the occasion.
