BNS ‘Somudra Joy’ arrives at the Port of Colombo
 

The Bangladesh Naval Ship (BNS) ‘Somudra Joy’ arrived at the Port of Colombo today (12th September) on a goodwill visit. The ship was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival. A host of officials from the Bangladesh High Commission in Colombo was also present on this occasion.
 
Subsequently, the Commanding Officer of BNS “Somudra Joy”, Captain M Moniruzzaman and the Bangladesh delegation met the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Western Naval Command Headquarters and held a cordial discussion. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark this occasion. Thereupon, the Commander Western Naval Area took time off to make an inspection tour onboard the Bangladeshi vessel as well.

The vessel that is 115.2m long and 13.1m wide, is manned by a crew of 278. During her 05 day official visit of Sri Lanka its crew members are scheduled to take part in several friendly sporting events and other programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy. The ship is due to set sail for her next port of call from the Colombo harbour on 16th of this month.
