JCET Flash Style 2018 terminates in Trincomalee on successful note
The certificate awarding ceremony of the Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) Flash Style 2018/01 was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium, Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 10th August 2018. The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, Commodore Ananda Guruge and the Deputy Area Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commodore Nandana Jayarathne.
Sixty two Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) personnel from the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla (26) and the Special Boat Squadron (36) took part in the training programme. The course which commenced on17th July included members from the US Naval Special Warfare Unit as well. The programme is held annually as part of mutual understanding and agreements for the training and support requirements of both countries. The four-week long course mainly focused on the development of professional skills and exchange of knowledge among naval personnel of US Naval Special Warfare Forces and Sri Lanka Navy.
Meanwhile, certificates of appreciation were awarded to the US Naval Special Warfare Forces element for imparting their knowledge to the SLN counterparts. The event culminated with an exchange of mementoes to signify the importance of this occasion. The occasion was also attended by Captain Damian Fernando, Commander 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Captain Aruna Weerasinghe, Commanding Officer Special Boat Squadron and a host of officers and sailors.
