Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe assumes duties as Commander Eastern Naval Area
 

Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe assumed duties as the newly appointed Commander Eastern Naval Area today (08 July). His predecessor, Rear Admiral Niraja Atygalle formally handed over the duties of the position to the incoming Area Commander at his office located at Naval Dockyard.

Rear Admiral Sumith Weerasinghe was accorded a Guard of Honour and received to the Eastern Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour the outgoing Rear Admiral Niraja Atygalle after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Eastern Naval Command. Deputy Area Commander, Commodore Nandana Jayarathne, Heads of Departments and a number of senior officers also attended the occasion.
