Newly constructed Piriven building complex and Sanghawasa of Dimbulagala Aranya Senasanaya bestowed on Sangha
The bestowal of newly constructed Piriven building complex and Sanghawasa of Dimbulagala Aranya Senasanaya, built utilizing the manpower of Sri Lanka Navy’s Civil Engineering Department, and ceremonial inauguration of the vestibule (Wahalkada) of the monastery took place under the patronage of the President His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena on 27th June 2018. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe was also present on this occasion as a distinguished invitee.
Maha Nayaka of the Amarapura Sri Dharmarakshita Nikaya, the Most Venerable Rajakiya Panditha Trincomalee Ananda Thero, Chief Incumbent of Dimbulagala Forest Monastery, Millane Siriyalankara Thero, Minister of Higher Education and Cultural Affairs, Hon. (Dr.) Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, former Chief Minister of the North Central Province Peshala Jayarathne, District Secretary for Polonnaruwa Mr. Ranjith Ariyarathne, Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara, public representatives as well a large crowd of devotees were present at this event.
Going side by side with the programme of the Department of Archaeology in restoration of archaeological sites, the development of Dimbulagala Forest Monastery was carried out under the “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa” district development programme. This magnanimous initiative was well assisted by the Civil Engineering Department of the Navy providing manpower.
Subsequently, the Commander of the Navy took time off to share a light moment with the naval personnel who undertook the construction work, and commended their successful accomplishment of the given task. Apart from that, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe also made an observation visit to the sites where similar projects are being carried out by the Navy’s Civil Engineering Department, under the “Pibidemu Polonnaruwa” district development programme. Director Naval Civil Engineering, Commodore Sisira Weerakoon and senior naval officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command were also present on these occasions.
