Navy assists to clean beach areas in concurrent with National Environment Week
 

In concurrent with the National Environment Week, Sri Lanka Navy assisted to clean beach and mangrove areas and accordingly, cleaning programmes were carried out at the beach areas in Eastern and Western coastal lines, today (3 June).

Naval personnel attached to Western Naval Command in collaboration with SL Army and Lions Club conducted a cleaning campaign in the beach area around the Crow Island in Mattakkuliya and this event was supported by the general public in the area.

Further, the beach area of Trincomalee Inner Harbour was cleaned by naval personnel attached to Eastern Naval Command together with Ocean Environment Protection Authority and polythene, plastic and non-degradable elements which are harmful to the environment were disposed methodically.
