Twenty Three Naval personnel pass out after SBS Training
One officer and 22 sailors of 25th SBS intake who completed their training successfully passed out at the SBS Headquarters in Naval Dockyard Trincomalee, yesterday (18 May).
Director General Services Rear Admiral Sumith Weeasinghe graced this Passing Out and Badge Fining ceremony as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was more colourful and attractive with a skillful drill display of the SBS personnel.
The trainees who excelled their talents during the training were awarded trophies by the chief guest. Accordingly, Ordinary Seaman SMMTGPP Abesinghe was adjudged as the Best Trainee and Highest Aggregate in Overall Subjects. Sub Lieutenant SKNS Sooriaracbchi was adjudged as the Best Shooter while Ordinary Seaman Phshpakumara won the title of Best Physical Endurance.
Under the motto " Fortune Favours the Brave" Special Boat Squadron of the SL Navy always committed to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland and they have fulfilled a great deal of responsibility in eradicating the 3 decades lasted terrorism. Owing to their hard training, this SBS has the exceptional talent of making the enemy excited and terrify at any front of the battle field through water, air or land with a great physical fitness and high moral.
Director Naval Operations Commodore Sanjeewa Dias, Commanding Officer of the SBS Headquarters Captain(SBS) Aruna Weerasinghe, Senior Naval Officers representing Naval Headquarters and Eastern Naval Command, parents and family members of the passed out trainees and a host of sailors also attended this occasion.
