‘Sarvagna Dathu’ Relics carried in procession to NHQ
 

For the worship of devotees attending the Vesak Zone organized under the auspices of Sirasa Media Network, the ‘Sarvagna Dathu’ Relics’ were brought via sea from the premises of the Sri Paramananda Rajamaha Viharaya, Galle to the Naval Headquarters in Colombo yesterday (28 April 2018). From the temple premises the ‘Sarvagna Dathu’ Relics’ were taken aboard Sri Lanka Coast Guard Ship Suraksha under the patronage of Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera and a host of naval personnel. The Commanding Officer of the ship, Captain Nevil Ubayasiri devotedly took over the ‘Sarvagna Dathu’ Relics’ to commence their journey to Colombo.

After leaving the port of Galle in the wee hours yesterday the vessel Suraksha arrived at 1.30 p.m. at the Colombo harbour where Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne was present to took over the sacred ‘Sarvagna Dathu’ and carried them in procession to the Naval Headquarters in Colombo before handing over them to Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva. Thereupon, the sacred relics were kept on a special rostrum at the headquarters premises.

On completion of religious rituals conducted by Maha Sangha arrived at the Naval Headquarters, naval personnel and their family members were also allowed to pay their homage to the sacred relics. Subsequently, at 5.00 p.m. the sacred casket was proceeded to the portals of Navy Headquarters in procession under the patronage of the Navy Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro and the ‘Sarvagna Dathu’ Relics soon commenced their journey to the next destination, the Gangarama Temple Hunupitiya on a fleet of decorative vehicles. Director Generals, senior officers attached to the Naval Headquarters and officials from the Sirasa media network were present on the occasion. Meanwhile, the auspicious deed of carrying the sacred relics worked out under the auspices of the Sirasa media network.
