59 young officers complete Sub Lieutenant Technical Course at NMA
The certificate awarding ceremony of 20th Executive, 23rd Logistics and 18th Patrolman/ Provost Sub Lieutenant Technical courses, conducted at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee, was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium on 07th April 2018. Commodore Kalana Jinadasa, Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA) , graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Marking the successful culmination of the courses, 59 student officers received certificates in recognition of their excellent academic performances. Commodore Superintendent Logistics (East), Commodore Desman Perera, Assistant Provost Marshal (East), Commander (PRO) Malinda Bogahalanda and Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy awarded the certificates to the officers who successfully completed the course. Accordingly, Lieutenant AVNM Karunathilaka, Lieutenant (S) WMYA Wanigasekara and Lieutenant (PRO) NMSA Dissanayake were adjudged the First in the Order of Merit for overall performance in respective Sub Lieutenant Technical Courses.
Addressing the gathering, while congratulating the officers who successfully completed the course, the Commandant highlighted the importance of training for the performance of their day today activities and holding responsibilities as future leaders of the Navy. In addition, the Commandant reminded the young officers about great naval traditions and three pillars on which these traditions rest on; discipline, integrity and honour.
Officer Training Officer, Commander Lakshitha Rathnathilaka, Commanding Officer, Commander Pradeepa Kodippili, Deputy Training Commander, Commander Rangana De Soyza and a host of senior and junior officers attached to the NMA were also present on the occasion.
