Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna assumes duties as Commander Western Naval Area
 

Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna who served as the Commander Southern Naval Area assumed duties as the newly appointed Commander Western Naval Area today (8th March). His predecessor, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle formally handed over the duties of the position to the incoming Area Commander at his office located at SLNS Rangalla.

Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received to the Western Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Western Naval Command. Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle is due to take over the Eastern Naval Command as the Area Commander.
