SLNS Dockyard proudly celebrates her 33rd Anniversary
 

The 33^rd anniversary of SLNS Dockyard, Trincomalee, fell on last 1^st of March. To mark the   anniversary celebrations, Naval personnel of SLNS Dockayard, keeping the age old Naval traditions, conducted number of religious, social and welfare activities under the patronage of Commanding Officer Captain Thushara Udugama.

Accordingly, Buddhist religious observances were held at Sri Agbo Purana Viharaya in Tissapura, Kantale and Hindu religious homage were fulfilled at Ganapathi Kovil in the Dockyard.    

In view of evoking blessings to all Naval personnel and their family members, a whole night Pirith chanting ceremony followed by an alms giving was also conducted with the participation of Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena, Deputy Area Commander Commodore Meril Sudarshana, senior & junior officers, Senior & junior sailors and civil servants.

As parts of the anniversary celebrations, a cricket tournament was played by the teams representing all  departments of the Dockyard, at SLNS Tissa grounds and for the entertainment of Naval personnel of the command, Jayalath Manorathna’s “ Handa Nihanda” was staged at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda auditorium.

The anniversary celebration marked its conclusion with the inspection of divisions by the Commanding Officer Captain Thushara Udugama and Barakana with the participation of Deputy Area Commander Commodore Meril Sudarshana, on 2^nd March.
