Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera assumes duties as Commander Southern Naval Area
 

Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera who served as the Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet (FOCNF) assumed duties as the newly appointed Commander Southern Naval Area today (28 February). His predecessor, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna formally handed over the duties of the position to the incoming Area Commander at his office located at SLNS Dakshina.

Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received to the Southern Naval Command and a similar formation followed suit to honour Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna after he was congratulated by fellow officers of the Southern Naval Command. Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna is due to take over the Western Naval Command as the Area Commander.
