Commander of the Navy visits North Central Naval Command
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe paid a visit at the North Central Naval Command on 14 and 15 February to inspect several ongoing projects in the area. The Navy Chief was warmly received by Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Merril Wickramasinghe, upon his arrival.

Initially, the Navy Commander inspected the construction work going on at Oluthuduwai in Mannar where the naval base SLNS Gajaba is expected to be relocated. Subsequently, he visited SLNS Pussadewa stationed in Wankalei.

Thereupon, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe addressed a cross section of officers and sailors attached to the North Central Naval Command at SLNS Pandukhabaya before inspecting the ongoing construction of the new administrative complex of SLNS Shiksha, the repair workshop of Reverse Osmosis plant located at SLNS Pandukhabaya and storage facility of the Rapid Response Rescue and Relief Squadron (4Rs). Finally, he paid a visit to the Navy Seva Vanitha Welfare Shop at SLNS Pandukhabaya as well.

These occasions were also attended by Rear Admiral Muditha Gamage, who is due to assume office as the new Commander North Central Naval Area, Heads of the Departments, senior officers, Commanding Officers and a large number of officers from the North Central Naval Command. Mementoes were also exchanged between the Commander of the Navy and Commander North Central Naval Area to signify this visit.
