Commander of the Navy visits Northern Naval Command
 

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe visited the Northern Naval Command yesterday (24 January). He was warmly received by Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha De Silva.

Vice Admiral Ranasinghe first addressed the Department Heads and Commanding Officers of the Northern Naval Area at the Command Auditorium of SLNS Uththara in Kankesanthurai. Subsequently, the senior and junior sailors were addressed prior to the visit to inspect ongoing construction work of the new Wardroom complex.

As part of this tour, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe also took time off to visit Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya and looked into the wellbeing of its Chief Incumbent and Chief Sanga Nayake of Northern Province, Praveenacharya most venerable Navandagala Paduma Kiththi Tissa Nayaka Thero. The Nayaka Thero invoked blessings of the Triple Gem on the Navy Commander. Thereupon, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe visited the Naval Detachment located on the Nainathivu Island and shared a light moment with officers and sailors attached to the naval establishment. A cordial interaction with Northern Command’s officers had been scheduled next in the itinerary of the Navy Commander. Right after that interaction, he took part in a special Hindu Pooja held at Sri Kappatha Vinayagar Hindu Kovil in Kareinagar and received the blessings. Finally, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe called on the Bishop of Jaffna, Right Reverend Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam. A memento was also presented to the Bishop of Jaffna to mark this occasion.

Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Command, Commodore Senarath Wijesuriya, Department Heads, Commanding Officers, senior officers and sailors attached to the Northern Naval Command were present on these events.
