Navy nabs 3 persons engaged in illegal fishing
 

Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command arrested 3 persons engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized fishing nets, in the seas off Ippantivu, Kalpitiya yesterday (02 January ).

Along with the suspects, a dinghy, 2 banned nets and 67 kg of illegally caught fish were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were produced before the Assistant Directorate of Fisheries in Puttlam for onward legal action.
