Concluding religious rituals of 67th anniversary of Navy held at Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya
 

A Buddhist religious programme to mark the culmination of the series of religious events organized in view of the 67th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya yesterday (27 December).

Accordingly, a ‘Bodhi Pooja’ pinkama followed by a ‘Dharma Deshana’ was conducted with the participation of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe. At the outset, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe and accompanying senior naval officers called on the Chief Prelate of the temple, Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhita Thera to receive the blessings and paid their homage to the sacred relics at the temple.

Subsequently, the ‘Dharma Deshana’ programme was held and it was attended by a large number of naval personnel and Sunday School (Daham Pasal) students. As part of the religious event blessings were invoked on the Commander of the Navy, all naval personnel and the motherland. Further, merits were transferred on the naval War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland during years of hostilities. Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Neil Rosayro and his spouse, Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva, Director Generals of the Navy, senior officers and a large number of sailors were present on this occasion.
