Japanese “Setogiri” arrives at the port of Trincomalee
“Setogiri” a Naval ship belongs to Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force, arrived at the port of Trincomalee today (20thDecember) on a good will visit. She was welcomed in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.
Commanding officer of the 7th Flotilla of Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force Captain Susumu Moriyama accompanied by the commanding officer of the ship Commander Takeshi Tonegawa paid a courtesy call on Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena and Flag Officer Commanding the Naval Fleet Rear Admiral Kapila Samaraweera at the Esatern Command Headquarters. Defence Attaché of the Japanese embassy in Sri Lanka, Captain Atsuhiro Morero was also present at the occasion. They held cordial discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanged mementos as a gesture of goodwill.
During the 3 day official visit the ship’s crew will participate in several special programmes including sports events too, arranged by the Sri Lanka Navy in enhancing mutual relationship. With the completion of their tour, the ship is scheduled to depart on 22nd December.
