Navy undertakes cleaning; Pahala Wewa in Anuradhapura breathes again
Navy undertook cleaning of Pahala Wewa in Anuradhapura, which lies connected to the brook that carries water from Nachchaduwa Wewa to Kala Wewa and made sure uninterrupted downstream of its water, during the last couple of days.
The water course was congested and stagnant due to water hyacinth and other aquatic plants which have grown in abundance in the lake. Accordingly, Sri Lanka Navy in collaboration with the Department of Irrigation cleared up the ailing lake and breathed fresh air into it.
Naval personnel of SLNS Pandukabhaya, Shiksha in Poonewa and SLNS Thammanna in Thalaimannar located in the North Central Naval Command took part in this cleaning effort.
