Navy nabs 5 persons engaged in illegal fishing

Naval personnel attached to the North Western Naval Command arrested 5 persons engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized fishing nets, in the seas off Mullikulam yesterday(14 December ).

Along with the suspects, a dinghy, 35 Nos of illegal nets, 24 kgs of fish catch, 3 pairs of diving fin and 4 diving masks were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons and belongings were produced before the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Puttlam for onward legal action.
