Navy assists to rush critically ill Iranian sailor ashore for treatment
Acting on information disseminated by an Iranian Naval Ship plying at the International Maritime Boundary Line, Sri Lanka Navy this morning (14 December) assisted to rush a critically ill sailor on-board ship ashore for treatment.
On receipt of information, the Navy took prompt action by sending one of its Fast Attack Craft P 4443 attached to the Eastern Naval Command to bring the patient ashore. Accordingly, the naval personnel reached the ship in the seas about 60 Nm off Trincomalee and safely brought the patient to the Trincomalee harbour. Subsequently, he was admitted to the Naval Hospital in Trincomalee and then transferred to the Trincomalee General Hospital.
In the same vein, the Navy had rendered assistance to bring ashore critically ill personnel and deceased persons on-board naval vessels, merchant vessels and multiday fishing trawlers, on numerous previous occasions.
Further, the Sri Lanka Navy, being the first responder during a scene of an emergency, remains vigilant around the clock to render their fullest assistance to distressed ships, craft and their crew members and fisher folk out at sea.
