Navy arrests 7 persons engaged in illegal fishing
 

Inshore Patrol Craft attached to the Norwest Naval Command, on routine patrol arrested 7 persons for engaging in illegal fishing using unauthorized fishing nets in the sea area East of Kudiramalai yesterday (06 December).

Along with the arrested persons 07 dinghies, 02 unauthorized fishing nets and 283 kg of illegally caught fish were also taken into naval custody. The apprehended persons, dinghies and fishing gear were handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries of Puttalam.
