Workshop on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Response held at NMA
 

A workshop on Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Emergency Response was successfully conducted at the Naval & Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 29 and 30 November 2017.

The Director General, Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, Mr. Anil Ranjith delivered the keynote speech. The welcome remarks were made by the Commandant, Naval & Maritime Academy, Commodore Kassapa Paul.

The event spanned two days making way for theoretical sessions, including a panel discussion and field exercises. The sessions were conducted by a team of guest lecturers from the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, the Sri Lanka Atomic Energy Board and the National Authority for Implementation of Chemical Weapon Convention in Sri Lanka.

A group of naval personnel including 27 officers and 55 sailors attended the workshop, which equipped them with much needed theoretical and practical awareness on as how to respond during any CBRN emergency situation. Commander (E) MADDM Piyathilake, the Senior Staff NBCD Officer from the Naval Headquarters was also present on this occasion.
