Navy renders assistance to transfer Philippine national ashore for treatment
Having received a distress call from the Container Ship CMA CGM Orfeo, Sri Lanka Navy this morning (29 November) promptly rendered assistance to transfer a mariner onboard ship, ashore for treatment.
Alerted by information of a mariner with burn injuries, the Fast Attack Craft P 432 attached to the Southern Naval Command was swiftly dispatched to the location of the Container Ship. The ship was en route to Singapore from the Port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
Accordingly, the naval personnel reached the vessel in the seas 12 nautical miles off Galle Lighthouse and safely transferred the patient to the Galle harbour. Thereafter, the patient who was identified as a Filipino was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for medical treatment.
