Commander of the Navy visits Eastern Naval Command
 

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe visited the Eastern Naval Command yesterday (27 November) and he was warmly received by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Nimal Sarathsena.

Vice Admiral Ranasinghe first visited the Green Ridge Project at Naval Dockyard to inspect the progress of the ongoing project and planted a tree sapling on the premises to signify his visit. Thereupon, he attended the Area Briefing held at the Command Conference Hall. The meeting was attended by Heads of the Departments, Commanding Officers of ships and establishments and senior officers attached to the Eastern Naval Command.

Subsequently, the Commander of the Navy took time off to inspect several sites including the proposed Offshore Patrol Vessel workshop and Saigang Project. Afterwards, he addressed a cross section of naval officers and sailors attached to the Afloat Command. Thereupon, the Navy Chief paid a brief visit to the Navy House prior to address the naval personnel belonging to the Eastern Naval Command, at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium. Meanwhile, Commodore Sea Training and Commander Eastern Naval Area exchanged mementoes with the Commander of the Navy, marking the significance of his visit to the Eastern Naval Command.

Upon his formal inspection of Officers’ Institute project site and Wardroom premises where several constructions are going on, the Navy Commander also partook of evening tea arranged at the Command Senior Sailors’ Mess. The President of Senior Sailor’s Mess presented a memento the Vice Admiral Ranasinghe to mark this occasion. Finally, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe inspected the newly acquired Tug to conclude his series of visits in the Eastern Naval Command.
